True 3D Dynamic Focusing Galvo

The True 3D Dynamic Focusing galvo combines a 2D XY galvo with a third galvo that moves an expansion lens in a telescope configuration, enabling true 3D processing across the entire work area.

How It Works

Unlike conventional "focus shifter" type 3D galvos that still require an f-theta lens, the Full 3D galvo has no f-theta lens — every point is focused dynamically in software. This eliminates the field distortion and focal plane limitations inherent in lens-based systems.

Key Advantages

  • True 3D Processing — Third-axis galvo moves an expansion lens to achieve dynamic focus at any point in the 3D workspace
  • No F-Theta Lens Required — Software-controlled focusing eliminates lens distortion and field curvature
  • Superior Coaxial Camera Performance — The coaxial camera looks directly at the galvo mirrors with no lens distortion after the mirrors, providing pixel-accurate vision alignment
  • Curved Surface Processing — Engrave and mark on non-flat surfaces with consistent focus
  • Large Working Volume — Process across a full 3D volume without mechanical repositioning

Not a "Focus Shifter"

Many galvo systems marketed as "3D" use a focus shifter — a motorized lens that adjusts focal distance but still relies on an f-theta lens for beam steering. These systems inherit all the distortion and field limitations of the f-theta lens. The True 3D Dynamic Galvo eliminates this entirely by controlling focus through the telescope configuration of the third galvo axis.
