Introducing SynchroScan 6D — Continuous Galvo + Servo Motion 📌 Sticky
Most galvo machines today still rely on a stitch-and-step workflow: scan a tile, move the stage, re-align, scan the next tile. Every tile boundary is a place where drift, registration error, and process time can creep in.
SynchroScan 6D is FSL's answer — and it's a fundamentally different way of running a galvo system.
What it is
SynchroScan 6D combines a 3-axis galvo scanner with a 3-axis EtherCAT servo platform for six fully-synchronized axes of motion. The galvo and the stage move at the same time, in lockstep, while the laser is firing. The result is one continuous toolpath across the entire workspace — no tile boundaries, no stitching seams, no stop-and-go.
Why it's faster
Because the laser doesn't have to wait for the stage to settle between tiles, processing speed runs over 2x faster than traditional stitch-scan workflows on the same material. For high-volume jobs — marking large sheets, processing rolls, long-format engraving — that's the difference between fitting a job into a shift or not.
Why it's accurate
Camera-to-laser calibration holds at 10 µm across the workspace. Combined with our Whole Lens Correction (Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensing) and the coaxial camera running through the galvo mirrors, you get edge-to-edge placement that's actually useful for production — not just bench tests.
And because the material travels under the lens during continuous motion, your effective work area is no longer limited by the galvo's optical field. A standard F160 lens covers maybe 4"×4" by itself — with SynchroScan, that constraint is gone. The work area is as large as your servo travel.
What you can run on it
• Black and clear acrylic, leather, paper, silicone
• Glass, crystal, ceramic, stone, marble
• Stainless, brass, copper, anodized aluminum, coated metals
• PCB processing, 3D crystal sub-surface engraving, decorative and industrial marking
Best fit for
• Production marking at scale where stitch-time matters
• Long-format work that won't fit a single galvo field
• Inline / roll-to-roll workflows where the part keeps moving
• Medical, electronics, consumer packaging, premium branding
