3D Laser Engraving on Curved Surfaces with Dynamic Galvo + Blue Line Scanner
Traditional laser engraving works on flat surfaces. But what happens when your workpiece is curved, domed, recessed, or has complex 3D geometry? That's where FSL's 3-axis dynamic galvo technology changes everything.
What is 3-Axis Dynamic Galvo Engraving?
A standard 2D galvo moves the laser beam in X and Y using mirrors. A 3-axis dynamic galvo adds a third axis Z-axis focus control that dynamically adjusts the focal point in real time as the laser scans. This means the laser stays perfectly focused even as the surface height changes across the workpiece.
The Blue Line Scanner Advantage
To engrave on a 3D surface, the laser needs to know the exact shape of that surface. FSL's built-in Blue Laser Line Scanner solves this by scanning the workpiece with a structured blue laser line and building a precise 3D height map automatically, in seconds.
The scanner captures the surface profile, and the engraving software uses that data to dynamically adjust the Z-axis galvo focus point-by-point during engraving. No manual measuring, no test runs, no guesswork.
Real-World Applications
Curved Glass Engraving
Engrave on concave and convex glass surfaces wine glasses, bowls, curved awards, and decorative glassware. The 3-axis galvo keeps the focal point locked to the curved surface for crisp, consistent marks.
Concave Curved Glass
Convex Curved Glass
Urn and Memorial Engraving
Personalize rounded urns and memorial items with detailed text and imagery. The scanner maps the curved surface and the galvo follows it precisely.
